March Madness at Noir Naturals

When you hear March Madness, college basketball comes to mind, but that’s not what we’re talking

We loved our last visit to Oak Alley Plantation and look forward to seeing these tour guides again.

Oak Alley Plantation – we’re coming back!

about.  We have so much happening this March that it might just make us a little mad.

We are so excited about our travel schedule this month!  Not only are we making return trips to two of our favorite places, we’re adding another stop to kick off the month.  Join us this weekend in Pass Christian, MS at the Flea Market at Menge.  This market is the largest outdoor market on the Gulf Coast and was featured on Junkin’ with Val and Dave.  Rain or shine, we’ll be there from 8 am until 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday – we cannot wait!

If this weekend is bad for you, come see us at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, LA on March 16th and 17th.  We love going back to Oak Alley and love the history.  And those Oaks! There’s something for everyone at Oak Alley, including ghosts according to some.

Speaking of return trips, we’re going back to Houma, LA on March 23.  Look for us at the Southdown Marketplace Arts and Crafts Festival.  This one day show features music, food, and a wide assortment of vendors ready to show you what they’ve got.  The plantation and museum will be open, too. Admission is just $5 with children under 12 free.  Rain or shine, we’ll be there from 8 am until 4 pm.

What else does March have in store?  Soap news!  Stay tuned for more information on a new feature we know you’ll love.  Soap news not enough?  Hair care products are also on the way.  We heard your

This Winter has been something else, eh? And if you have dry skin, it’s been murder.  Caregivers, cooks, and any others who wash his or her hands frequently are feeling the pain as well.  Sometimes regular lotion isn’t enough and heavy creams may be too much during the work hours.  Enter Blue Angel, a goat’s milk lotion inspired by nurses and mean for anyone dealing with dry, cracked damaged skin.

This hand lotion formula was inspired by the nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.  These angels work hard to help patients through every stage of the healing process.  They wash their hands dozens of times a day and then some, which strips away moisture.  We wanted to create something that helped keep their skin moisturized between applications.  Blue Angel is packed with some of the most moisturizing and healing butters and oils available. Mango, cocoa, and unrefined organic Shea butter blend with Jojoba, Meadowfoam, Safflower, and Vitamin E oils to form a creamy lotion.  And we add an extra healing kick with the addition of goat’s milk.

Kathy in Woodlands, TX tried Blue Angel and is sold:

I’ve been a hospital nurse for most of my career and have always endured dry and sometimes blistered hands. We are required to wash our hands and use hand sanitizers constantly at the hospital and my hands dry out so much. In all my years I have not found anything to keep my hands moist. Your sample lotion has sold me! My hands stay moist and soft and has completely healed. I will definitely be a long time customer. Thank you.

Blue Angel is available in both unscented and lavender formulas and is $15 for a bottle. Try it and heal your skin.   The formula is intensive and highly concentrated – a small amount works wonders!

Fight the Flu Naturally

By Noir Naturals
Washing your hands often with soap and water can go a long way in keeping the flu bug at bay. Our lavender goat's milk and coconut milk vegan soaps are naturally anti-fungal, antiseptic, and soothing.

Washing your hands often with soap and water can go a long way in keeping the flu bug at bay. Our lavender goat’s milk and coconut milk vegan soaps are naturally anti-fungal, antiseptic, and soothing.

This flu season is a truly nasty one.  48 states have been hit by it resulting in thousands of hours in lost productivity, misery, and just plain grumpies.  Members of the Noir Naturals team are fighting it themselves or nursing a loved one back to health.  The flu shot is not the only defense against this wicked bug.  There are ways to reduce and possibly avoid the misery that comes with this unwelcome visitor.

We are not medical professionals.  We just wanted to share what we’ve heard about how others are finding relief.

First up, cleaning and covering up.  These are old school practices, but we tend to lose sight of those things sometimes.  Wash your hands often with soap.  Keep unclean hands away from your face.  When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with your arm or elbow, not your hands.  And if you’re not the one coughing or sneezing, keep in mind that not everyone will remember to do cover or wash up.

Head into the kitchen and whip up system-strengthening goodness.  Pumping up your menu will help you strengthen your immune system all year.  Dark greens, coconut oil, onions, garlic, ginger, citrus fruit, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and hot foods that warm the body and spirit are all said to work wonders. We’ve also stumbled across various pins and recipes for ginger, lemon, and honey tonics and syrups that people swear by.  We even found a flu fighting sorbet with bourbon, honey, ginger, lemon, orange, and cayenne.  One of our team members keeps ginger honey syrup on hand and uses it year round.  She says it makes fantastic lemonade.  Herbal remedies that include elderberries and Echinacea are said to fight off the flu bug as well.

Has the flu hit you or your loved ones?  How do you fight it?  Share your tips and suggestions with us on Twitter, Facebook, or G+.  We’ve pinned some of our favorite recipes on our Nommable Nosh board on Pinterest.  Here’s to better health!

Message from the owner, Charles Kennedy – Thank you.

By Noir Naturals
We appreciate each and every one of you. Stuart Miles photo.

We appreciate each and every one of you.
Stuart Miles photo.

As 2012 came to a close, my wife and I looked back at the year Noir Naturals had.  I could not be happier.  Noir Naturals continues to grow and I owe it all to you, our customers, fans, followers and well wishers.  As you know my health was a challenge last year, but thanks to the great team of folks that I work with, we were able to keep things moving forward.  To all the folks that make Noir Naturals run well everyday, I thank you for all your contributions and dedication!

As we review our business plans for 2013 I am excited because of what we have in store.  If you have not seen our 2013 Resolutions please click here to view them.  We have incorporated feedback from you into our resolutions, and I believe we are set up for an even better year.  We always appreciate all of your comments and feedback, so please keep them coming.

Throughout the last few years many of you have asked and encouraged us to secure a fixed location on the Northshore and/or Southshore (in Louisiana), where you can come by to shop in between shows.  We are working to make this happen, and will have more information as the year progresses.

To this end I wish you God’s blessings for 2013, and look forward to seeing and/or hearing from all of you again this year.

Charles

2013 in Full Swing

By Noir Naturals

Hard to believe a year has come and gone, eh?

We’re back to the daily grind here at Noir Naturals and we started the year by setting goals. Like a lot of people, we make resolutions, goals, or whatever you call them at the start of the year after reflecting on the past year.

New_Year_s_Resolutions_3In 2013, we plan to
  • Keep customer service a priority.
  • See more of you in person this year (that’s right, we’ll still hit the road often)
  • Increase product testing opportunities.  We love hearing from you at all levels of product development and would love to hear your input from the beginning.
  • Introduce new product lines  and new scents. Stay tuned for more info.
  • Offer more opportunities for you to save.  Keep your eyes open for coupons and programs!
Those are some of our goals.  What are some of yours?
To learn more about what we’re up to and when, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or G+. To learn more about our current products and opportunities, visit Noir Naturals at NoirNaturals.com.
Here’s to an excellent year!
