It’s Raw. It’s Tasty. It’s Local Louisiana Honey.

The month of September is designated as National Honey Month and we always enjoy telling others about our delicious raw local Louisiana honey. Noir Naturals’ raw honey comes from happy bees throughout the south Louisiana area. The bees are happy because their hives are not located near any commercial farms that use harmful pesticides, which will adversely impact the bee population.

Customers who’ve purchased our honey have said the following about it:

  • Just a good tasting honey. Kinda different from the rest which is a plus! (Keely – Dallas, TX via Etsy)
  • Delicious honey….I’m so glad I gave this a try. (Renae – Lansford, PA via Etsy)
  • I will be recommending you all to friends. The honey is delicious 🙂 (John – New Orleans, LA)
  • I have only had mostly clover honey or a honey that is not as cleanly sweet as yours so it would affect the taste of coffee too much. The honey is the best honey I have ever tasted!!! (Carol – Mansfield, OH)

New Soaps

About a month ago we unveiled two new Goat’s Milk Soaps which have been hits. Not all soaps we release end up as customer favorites, but these two certainly are.

Our Mac Rae Goat’s Milk Soap is a refreshing aroma of fresh white tea laced in ginger. Some customers refer to Mac Rae as sexy and some as a fun must have.

5 Year Anniversary of Noir Naturals

This month marks the 5 year anniversary of Noir Naturals. We are very excited to be celebrating this milestone with a unique promotion all month long.

2015 Anniversary Promotion

There is no doubt that we’ve come a long way from day 1 to today. We owe many thanks to God for giving us the health, strength and business acumen for the past years, and the many more to come. We are also grateful to both our www.NoirNaturals.com and www.NaturalSoapFundraising.com website customers for the support received over the past 5 years. We invite you to celebrate with us!

Owner, Noir Naturals

From a rough start to 2014, to a strong end to 2014, and onto an exciting start to 2015.

I am so glad it’s a new year, because I sure had a rough 2014. My wife and I started 2014 with much excitement and plans for Noir Naturals, but we got slightly derailed as my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February. I took a sabbatical from the business for most of the year to take care of mom and deal with grief after her passing in July. It was a rough year personally, but I’m happy to say that Noir Naturals had a great year, and ended 2014 strong.

I was particularly pleased with how well our natural soap fundraising program did this year. Noir Naturals was able to not only partner with non-profit organizations and individuals to help them raise funds, but we gave back to the community as well. We donated 54.4 lbs of food to Our Daily Bread Food Bank in Hammond, LA, and donated the rest of fundraising program proceeds to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Metairie, LA.

happy new year 1We will be starting the year off teaching a couple soap making history sessions, and soap making classes to more than 50 students. A few months ago the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Chalmette Battlefield invited us to their 200th Commemoration of the Battle of New Orleans. We are excited to be a part of this historical event scheduled for later this week, on January 9th and 10th.

We have a number of wonderful plans for the rest of 2015, including finishing up our shampoo and conditioner line. We will be discontinuing a couple products that ran their life cycle, but will be replacing them with exciting new ones. We will be expanding our recently launched aromatherapy line, and working on a couple special customer product requests as well. And as usual we will have new lotion and soap scents introduced. We will continue to keep you posted as things progress.

In June, 2015 we will celebrate our 5th year in business. I am very thankful to God for the growth we have experienced in our business the past years. We will have a very special promotion in June to commemorate this 5 year achievement.

Here’s to a happy, healthy and awesome 2015!

Charles, Owner Noir Naturals

Natural Soap Fall Fundraising is in Full Swing

Fall Fundraising is in full swing and we are feeling the heat, in a good way. We have a number of fundraisers going on currently with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Team In Training, the American Cancer Society- Team for Tricia, Riverside Academy Carnival Ball, Ryan’s Organic Farm and Pacific Classical Ballet.

Fall is always a great, fulfilling time for us at Noir Naturals not only because of the cooler temperatures, and the red and orange leaves but particularly because it’s the time when we are able to help others raise funds to achieve their goals. Our fundraising program allows us to give back to others and the community in more ways than one.

Our natural soap fundraising program offers two options individuals and groups can utilize to raise funds. We will build a personalized online webpage where anyone in the USA can support a fundraiser. There is a pre-purchase option where soap, lotion and other products can be purchased and resold to friends, family members or at events to raise funds. Or, orders can be gathered in a traditional offline fundraising setting and submitted to us for processing at the end of the fundraiser. Fundraising utilizing multiple options ensures a greater level of success. Our Fundraising Program Manager, will work with you to determine the best combination of options for your fundraiser.

If you or someone you know needs to raise funds, have them visit www.NaturalSoapFundraising.com to consider the Natural Soap Fundraising program, by Noir Naturals. It’s easy since we handle all of the work for you. Noir Naturals will collect, process and ship orders, as well as run reports on sales. All you have to do is promote your webpage and encourage friends, family members and supporters to support your fundraiser. We’ll post your fundraiser on our social media pages, and continue pumping out those orders to help you meet your fundraising goals.

We’ve been busy working on new soap

The soap makers at Noir Naturals have been busy formulating new soap for Fall 2014. In the last month there have been two new goat milk soap launches, and more may be on the way.

Carnival is a Pink Sugar Type bar that reminds us of playful memories of Carnival rides, candy apples, pink cotton candy and caramel apples. Don’t let the dark brown color of the soap fool you, as it smells nothing like chocolate. Carnival retails for $5 and is a fun, exciting scent you are sure to love.

Carnival

Great Outdoors is another bar tailored to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. This soap was formulated with essential oils to mask the human scent and help keep bugs at bay. Great Outdoors smells like dirt and leaves, so when used the individual smells much like the outdoors, keeping mosquitos, gnats and other insects away. It is a good choice for hunters as the human scent is disguised. Those fishing and who enjoy gardening, or spending time out on the porch will benefit from this bar as well. The raw goat’s milk in this soap keeps skin moist, thus providing a treat to skin as well.

Great Outdoors retails for just $6 per bar, and with hunting season in full swing is a good choice for many. Or, use as a stocking stuffer for that special someone who likes the outdoors.

We’re playing with a couple more ideas for new soap just in time for the holiday season, so stay tuned.

It’s our Anniversary!

The month of June is a very special time for us as it marks the anniversary of Noir Naturals. Four years ago my husband Charles and I started the company. We’ve had both highs and lows over the past years, but more highs thank goodness. There were many long days and nights working in our store and or workshop and at shows, as we progressed along our journey of business growth. We’ve enjoyed every minute of our journey to say the least.

We’d like to thank our customers who have supported us over the years. Noir Naturals would not be where we are today had it not been for our customers, many of whom have been customers from inception.

To celebrate our 4 year anniversary we are offering a free shipping promotion on all orders through midnight June 17, 2014. Our regular shipping promotion is free shipping on orders over $50 but as we celebrate our birthday, we’re offering free shipping on all orders for a limited time only. We are extremely thankful to God that we have made it this far and pray that he continues to guide us and further grow our business for many years to come. We invite you to celebrate with us!

A look back

We’re feeling a little nostalgic here at Noir Naturals and thought we’d get in on the Throwback Thursday fun.

Remember this logo?  It was our first when we opened up shop.  We had eight Goat’s Milk Soaps then and thought that was a lot.  Sharing our vision of the old ways was (and still is) a dream come true.

We found an excellent goat farmer for our milk and drove to pick it up ourselves. Yes, we still do that.

We traveled to a lot of shows all over the Gulf Coast.  Oak Alley Plantation, Houma, Southdown, Houston, Brodamoor High School, and more.  We love meeting people.

We  moved from Mandeville to Houston, Texas, and came back home to Louisiana.

We’ve added products to our inventory over the years.  A baby soap, Soy Wax Cubes, hair products, Shea Butter, vegan-friendly Coconut Milk Soaps,  Pure Raw Louisiana Honey, and Pure Argan Oil.

Like all of our products, Baby Noir is colorant-free, paraben-free, and handmade with love.

While some things have changed, our core mission remains the same.  We want to bring you the highest quality, handmade bath, body, and aromatherapy products possible.  To help you experience Yesterday Once More.

Green With Ennui

Love this!

gardeninacity

An article in the most recent issue of Fine Gardening, entitled “Designing with green”, opens with this statement: “This ubiquitous color, when used well, can be just as exciting as vibrant flowers.”

Ostrich fern as a foundation planting in m front garden. Ostrich fern as a foundation planting in my front garden.

To which the obvious response is: No. No, it can’t.

Don’t get me wrong. I can appreciate green-only plants. I understand that there are intriguing variations in the size, texture, and sheen of leaves. Plus, I get that green can come in a wide variety of shades: light and dark, yellow and blue.

Ostrich fern (Metteucia struthiopteris) and wild ginger (Asarum canadense) are probably my two favorite plants grown for no other color, and I have quite a bit of both in my garden.
