Louisiana Farmers – thank you!

How was your first weekend of Spring?  We spent ours visiting family and taking in the sights of northern Louisiana farms.

Farmers, thank you. We know it’s hard work and want you to know we appreciate you.

Have you visited a local farm?  Make a day trip of it and check one out.

Next weekend we’ll be in Vacherie for Oak Alley Plantation’s Spring Arts and Crafts Festival. Hope to see you there!

Do you know what your skin is doing?

Food for thought: Our skin absorbs 60% of what we put on it. Scary, isn’t it? Read labels and know what you’re using.

Caring for your loofah

We’ve discussed how to make natural soap last longer with a wooden soap dish, but we haven’t discussed caring for your loofah.

Exfoliation is a must for smooth skin and loofahs are the perfect tool for the job. They’re available in several materials, but a natural one is recommended by dermatologists.  Personally, our team members love ours, but those of us with sensitive skin must take it easy on use.  An optimal schedule is once or twice a week for those with sensitive skin and up to three times a week for those with regular skin.

How often do you clean or replace your loofah?  Those babies can hoard bacteria and hanging them in the shower to dry isn’t good enough to kill it.  Dermatologists recommend that you get a new one every month and clean them well with an essential oil or bleach solution.

If you’re in the market for a natural loofah, Noir Naturals has one for you.  They’re just $2 each and straight from nature.

Headed to Vacherie!!

We love this time of year.  It’s time for the Fall Arts ad Crafts Festival at Oak Alley Plantation!  Vacherie is especially lovely in fall, and we love it there.  Come see us on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am – 5 pm.

Because we can’t be in two places at once, our store in Ponchatoula will be closed on Saturday.  As always, our online shop is open 24/7.  Don’t forget the Spooky Savings Sale.

Will you join us on Saturday or Sunday?

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: Backyard Goodies

We love gardening on our time off.  This is just a sample of the goodies in our backyard.

magnolia

The Magnolia is the classic Southern flower to us. There is something romantic about the blooms.

loquats

We love the pop of color from Loquats. Subtle and stunning at the same time. And they make a lovely snack.

berries

Bonus wild blackberries! We found these while clearing brush and pulling weeds.

It’s hard to leave them alone.

berries 2

This was the first pop of wild berry color we saw. Of course we had to take a few shots.

We also have azaleas and fig trees.  We’re waiting for the figs to bear and have vision of fig preserves on the brain.  How does your garden grow?
