It’s Double-Duty Weekend: NOLA and Baton Rouge Bound!

November is one of Noir Natural’s busiest months.   We travel all over the south for shows, but there is nothing like coming home.

Baton Rouge and NOLA this weekend? Yes! Come see us at the Helen Brett Show, Broadmoor Arts & Crafts Show, or both!

And this weekend, we’re coming home and doing double-duty.  We’ll back in Louisiana for an extended weekend of shows.  NOLA and Baton Rouge, baby!  Join us starting Thursday, November 15 through Sunday, November 19.

On Thursday we’ll be in New Orleans for the Helen Brett International Jewelry and Gift Show at the Morial Convention Center.  We love this one because we get to see so many people at this four day show.  And being back home makes us happy, too.  This is an industry show, but is also open to the public. Qualified buyers get in free — store owners, owner’s spouses, and employees, that means you.  On Friday, attendees can purchase up to two guest badges for $20 each.  No one under the age of 16 is permitted at this one.  Specialty arts, crafts, jewelry, apparel and accessories, artwork, and gourmet food are among the offered items from hundreds of vendors.   The show takes over  Halls H-J in the convention center and we’ll be in booth 1505.  The show runs from Thursday through Sunday.  On Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, drop by anytime from Saturday 10 am – 6 pm.  On Sunday, join us from 10 am – 5 pm.  We hope to see you at 900 Convention Center Boulevard!

If you’re not up for a drive to NOLA, how does Baton Rouge grab you?  Join us in sharing Buccaneer Pride at the Broadmoor Arts & Craft Festival at Broadmoor High School. Proceeds from this show helps the Bucs cover equipment costs, trips for the band and choir, and teacher workshop costs.  Help the school and find what you
seek from the 250 artisans from seven states.  Join us on Friday, November 16th from 3 pm to 9 pm and Saturday from 9 am – 4 pm.  Admission is just $3 and shuttle buses
will run from Broadmoor Shopping Center and Broadmoor Middle School.  This is the 39th annual festival and our second time here.  We’ve been looking forward to this one all year!

As always, we’ll have an assortment of vegan coconut milk and goat’s milk soapslotionsanti-aging body buttersDead Sea Saltbody scrubsbath treatments, and maskssoy wax cubes and wax warmers, our new lip balms, and more at both shows.  And don’t forget the show special:  buy and three items and get a fourth of equal or lesser value for free.

October is Going to Be Busy!

October 2012 already.  Wasn’t it just Summer?  We’re glad the weather is cooling down, but things here at Noir Naturals are heating up. Fall marks the start of a busy holiday season.  Yes, we said holiday.  It may be a little early to think of the holidays, but we’re coming up on Halloween pretty quickly.  And once the kids go trick-or-treating, the holidays start knocking on the door.

Speaking of the holidays, we’re putting together a selection of holiday gifts and getting holiday scents ready.  Pumpkin and warm spicy fragrances call to us, but we plan to mix things up a bit. Keep your eyes open!

And the gift selections will make their debut at shows this month before they’re available in our shop.  We’ll be on the road a lot in October starting this weekend.  On Saturday, come see us at the Magnolia Methodist Church’s Annual Bazaar and BBQ.  From 9 am until 3 pm, we’ll be at 419 Commerce Street in Magnolia, TX with a wide selection of our soaps, lotions, and more.  Hope to see you there!  We’ll be back in Louisiana this month, too.  Well see you at Oak Alley Plantation and the Junior League of Baton Rogue’s Hollydays Market.  Stay tuned for more details.

We love children and want the best for them.  We designed a fundraising program just for them, and donate proceeds from our Baby Noir Soap sales to the Be An Angel Foundation, and we’re donating proceeds from our new Pink Soy Cubes to The Sunshine Kids.  The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit dedicated to children with Cancer.  Join us in sending a lot of love and good thoughts.

Like we said, October is going to be a busy one.  Follow us on FacebookG+, or Twitter for more on what we’re up to.  We’re still learningPinterest and would love to see your boards.  Share your links or follow us and we’ll follow back.

Remember, if you know of a children’s organization in need of a fundraising program, point them in our direction. You could earn a referral reward!

The Wonders of Coconut Oil

We love coconuts, coconut milk, and coconut oil.

We love coconut in all forms – fresh coconut meat, coconut milk, and coconut oil.

Once upon a time, coconut oil was lumped in with other saturated fats and deemed bad for us, but is now the darling of Paleo/Primal enthusiasts, vegans, and anyone else moving toward a cleaner, more natural life. Coconut oil has multiple benefits when taken internally.  As an ingredient in snacks, meals, or drinks, its properties cover many bases.  Coconut oil’s medium chain fatty acids are anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and said to fight cancer, digestive issues, various infections, stress, and migraines. This powerhouse is also reported to aid in weight loss.  A member of the Noir Naturals family is a huge coconut oil fan and adds it to her daily coffee and smoothies and notices a reduction in the severity of her migraines.  And this was before Dr. Oz ran a feature on it last season.

At Noir Naturals, we focus on the external benefits of coconut oil as well.  Coconut oil is a traditional ingredient in skin and hair products.  It moisturizes the skin without leaving a greasy residue and has anti-aging properties.  It helps prevent flaking skin which makes ideal for minimizing the effects of psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis while helping skin heal.  Coconut oil’s Lauric Acid, Vitamin E, and proteins are the magical components.  We use it in our goat’s milk and coconut milk vegan soaps,  Dead Sea Salt Body Scrubs, and body butters.  A change from the standard commercial products to our natural bath and beauty collection will produce results!  Just look at what our customers have to say.

Adding coconut oil to the menu and beauty regimen is another way we go back to simpler, more natural times.  Join us!  Coconut oil is solid at cooler temperatures and liquefies when warm.  It adds a coconut flavor when used in food, but the type of oil and other ingredients used determines the intensity of the flavor.  Try a little in place of butter in pie crust for a chocolate pecan pie or in biscuits for a weekend breakfast.  Or try popping popcorn with it.  Melt the oil, pop the popcorn, and top it with a little Sea Salt.
