Do you know what your skin is doing?

Food for thought: Our skin absorbs 60% of what we put on it. Scary, isn’t it? Read labels and know what you’re using.

Caring for your loofah

We’ve discussed how to make natural soap last longer with a wooden soap dish, but we haven’t discussed caring for your loofah.

Exfoliation is a must for smooth skin and loofahs are the perfect tool for the job. They’re available in several materials, but a natural one is recommended by dermatologists.  Personally, our team members love ours, but those of us with sensitive skin must take it easy on use.  An optimal schedule is once or twice a week for those with sensitive skin and up to three times a week for those with regular skin.

How often do you clean or replace your loofah?  Those babies can hoard bacteria and hanging them in the shower to dry isn’t good enough to kill it.  Dermatologists recommend that you get a new one every month and clean them well with an essential oil or bleach solution.

If you’re in the market for a natural loofah, Noir Naturals has one for you.  They’re just $2 each and straight from nature.

How to care for your natural soap dish

A wooden soap dish is pretty and useful.  It can add a little nature to your bath decor and extend the life of your soap bars.  Keeping soap dry between use is key to making it last longer – this is especially true of natural soap.  But how do you care for the soap dish? Don’t worry – it’s easy!

All soap can leave a little gunk behind.  It’s unattractive, but easy to clean.

Dish before

Just run a towel or cleaning rag through the grooves to clean out the gunk and rinse.  Or just run it through the dishwasher.  Let it sit and dry.

Dish when wet

Once it dries, it’s ready to hold your favorite bar of soap again.

Dish when dried

Noir Naturals’ Cypress Wooden Soap Dish is durable, attractive, and has deep grooves that help soap drain well.  It fits in nicely in the kitchen or bath and is just and lasts a long time with proper care.  Get yours for just $4 each and perk up your decor while extending the life of your soap.

We cannot wait to see these tour guides again!

We’re like kids on Christmas break – excited, giddy, and downright bouncy.  Oak Alley Plantation does it to us every time.  We always say this, but this arts and crafts festival will be the best.

On Saturday October 26 and Sunday the 27th, we’ll be back in Vacherie.  This will be our first trip to Oak Alley since we opened the retail store and we’ll have new products with us.  Three new coconut milk vegan soaps, a selection of fall and holiday soy wax cubes, and our new Hair and Scalp Oil will all be on hand.  We’ll also have our reformulated Dead Sea Mud Mask and 100% Pure Argan Oil with us.

Will you join us on Saturday or Sunday?

New store hours and more

Happy Fall!  We just plain love this time of year.  The temperature starts to change, nights get a little longer, and we hit the road.  We love the fall show season and have a few stops planned.  Before we hit the road, we made some changes.

First, we’ve changed our store hours.  Not by much, but we think you’ll like it. Come see us from 10 am until 6 pm Tuesday through Friday and 9-3 on Saturday.  We’re closed on Sundays and Mondays.

We’re adding new products to the inventory.  New coconut milk vegan soaps are coming and new beeswax cubes are in the works.  Everyl-Ann made her first batch this past weekend while running the shop. In addition, keep your eyes open for the 2013 line of fall and holiday scented soaps and wax cubes.

Finally, we’ve tweaked our show schedule a bit.  Our first stop is in Hammond this weekend.  On Friday, September 27, join us at the 2013 Brews Arts Festival.  This one is strictly for the 21 and over crowd.  From 5-9 pm enjoy music, arts and crafts from local and regional artists, live demonstrations, food by Kevin Cote, fresh homemade sangria, and an extensive selection of beer.  Tickets are $20 per person in advance or $25  at the door.  Get your advance tickets from the Hammond Arts Center during regular gallery hours, by phone at 985-542-7113, or online.  Hope to see you on Friday behind the Arts Center in the Morrison Alley parking lot.

Changes in our fundraising program

cover soaps

Try a fundraiser that offers something useful – our natural, handmade soaps!

It’s that time of year already.  Kids of all ages are making the rounds with multiple fundraising catalogs and we wonder how – and if – we’ll find anything we can use for ourselves or as gifts.  With Noir Naturals’ fundraising program, you know you have a product everyone can use.  We launched our fundraising program to offer something different and think the new changes will make it even easier for your organization to stand out and earn more.

Noir Naturals program is available for individual student and student groups of all ages, pre-K through college, to generate income for trips and various causes.  Adult mission and ministry groups are welcome as well.

We now offer three options for our fundraisers.  Customers can purchase bars online from a personalized fundraising website like Haley’s, offline via catalog, or at our retail location in Ponchatoula.

We’ve also increased your organization’s profit on each bar.  Instead of $1.50, your group can earn $2.50 per bar.  There is a small minimum target – just 50 bars.  If each child sells one to two bars, the minimum will be met in no time.   And at prices at just $5 or $6 each, customers may buy more than one bar just because.

There is still no upfront cost unless your organization wants to pre-purchase bars to sell at an event. Imagine setting up a table at the Fall or Holiday Festival and selling out.  You could launch your fundraiser then and have customers swing by Noir Naturals to purchase more.

All of our goat’s milk and coconut milk vegan soap bars are available including our Baby Noir Soaps, Asta Doggie Soaps, and new Powder Puff Goat’s Milk Soap.

Let us help your child’s school, daycare center, club, or group raise money for trips, projects, and more.
