Changes in our fundraising program

cover soaps

Try a fundraiser that offers something useful – our natural, handmade soaps!

It’s that time of year already.  Kids of all ages are making the rounds with multiple fundraising catalogs and we wonder how – and if – we’ll find anything we can use for ourselves or as gifts.  With Noir Naturals’ fundraising program, you know you have a product everyone can use.  We launched our fundraising program to offer something different and think the new changes will make it even easier for your organization to stand out and earn more.

Noir Naturals program is available for individual student and student groups of all ages, pre-K through college, to generate income for trips and various causes.  Adult mission and ministry groups are welcome as well.

We now offer three options for our fundraisers.  Customers can purchase bars online from a personalized fundraising website like Haley’s, offline via catalog, or at our retail location in Ponchatoula.

We’ve also increased your organization’s profit on each bar.  Instead of $1.50, your group can earn $2.50 per bar.  There is a small minimum target – just 50 bars.  If each child sells one to two bars, the minimum will be met in no time.   And at prices at just $5 or $6 each, customers may buy more than one bar just because.

There is still no upfront cost unless your organization wants to pre-purchase bars to sell at an event. Imagine setting up a table at the Fall or Holiday Festival and selling out.  You could launch your fundraiser then and have customers swing by Noir Naturals to purchase more.

All of our goat’s milk and coconut milk vegan soap bars are available including our Baby Noir Soaps, Asta Doggie Soaps, and new Powder Puff Goat’s Milk Soap.

Let us help your child’s school, daycare center, club, or group raise money for trips, projects, and more.

Is Natural Allergy Relief Possible?

Spring has sprung down in the south and that means allergies are kicking.  While traditional medications work most of the time, we can’t spend the day in a hazy fog.  Not that we prefer sneezing, crying, or not breathing through our noses.  What’s a team to do?  Go natural.  Some natural alternatives work quickly and others need time.  All work fairly well for us.

Local honey is a tried and true alternative.  Why local?  Because the pollen the bees use come from the flowers native to our azaleas 2013location.  A little honey every day helps one build resistance to the pollen and the allergies that come with it. Our allergies are less severe as a result, and we get to have a little honey every day.  That’s a win to us.  Other foods that are said to clear the sinuses are horseradish, hot peppers, and hot mustard.

When congestion rears its ugly head, we turn to saline solutions.  A good saline rinse will temporarily open nasal passages and make it possible for us to breathe freely.  It’s a shame that the relief is only temporary because saline rinses work.  There are many ready made saline solutions available – they come in bottles similar to the old school nasal sprays.  Basically you tilt your head, spray, and let the saline work its magic.  While we haven’t tried a neti pot yet, we’re looking at them in a new light. A neti pot a vessel for a saline rinse and people swear by them.

Herbal and homeopathic options are out there, too.  Butterburr and  Stinging Nettle have reported benefits as alternative antihistamines.  One study reports buttterburr as effective as the active ingredient in Zyrtec.   Homeopathic remedies work like local honey does.  The type of remedy one uses is determined by the type of symptoms and allergies he/she has.  For instance, a person suffering with watery eyes may take a different solution than one who has sinus pain and pressure.

When we posted a question about allergy relief on our Facebook wall, a fan told us about another option we hadn’t heard of previously.  A liver cleanse.  The liver is the body’s processor; it metabolizes food and processes fluids.  Keeping it at optimal condition should do the trick, but we haven’t tried it.

Something that works wonders is simple – cleaning.  Wash bed linens after and consider covers for your pillows and mattresses that block allergens.  Sweep, vacuum, dust, and mop at least weekly; more often as you can and wear a dust mask if you need to. If you can get rid of your carpet, consider it.  One of our team members reports better breathing since she pulled the carpet out of her home.

How are you fighting your allergies this season?  Tell us about it on Twitter, Facebook, or G+.  We have a few home remedies pinned on Pinterest.  Do you?

This Winter has been something else, eh? And if you have dry skin, it’s been murder.  Caregivers, cooks, and any others who wash his or her hands frequently are feeling the pain as well.  Sometimes regular lotion isn’t enough and heavy creams may be too much during the work hours.  Enter Blue Angel, a goat’s milk lotion inspired by nurses and mean for anyone dealing with dry, cracked damaged skin.

This hand lotion formula was inspired by the nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.  These angels work hard to help patients through every stage of the healing process.  They wash their hands dozens of times a day and then some, which strips away moisture.  We wanted to create something that helped keep their skin moisturized between applications.  Blue Angel is packed with some of the most moisturizing and healing butters and oils available. Mango, cocoa, and unrefined organic Shea butter blend with Jojoba, Meadowfoam, Safflower, and Vitamin E oils to form a creamy lotion.  And we add an extra healing kick with the addition of goat’s milk.

Kathy in Woodlands, TX tried Blue Angel and is sold:

I’ve been a hospital nurse for most of my career and have always endured dry and sometimes blistered hands. We are required to wash our hands and use hand sanitizers constantly at the hospital and my hands dry out so much. In all my years I have not found anything to keep my hands moist. Your sample lotion has sold me! My hands stay moist and soft and has completely healed. I will definitely be a long time customer. Thank you.

Blue Angel is available in both unscented and lavender formulas and is $15 for a bottle. Try it and heal your skin.   The formula is intensive and highly concentrated – a small amount works wonders!

Louisiana State University’s Ag Center’s mission is to innovate, educate, and improve lives; this event does all this and then some.  This week-long event is a showcase for youth and those who care for and exhibit livestock.  Louisiana 4H and Future Farmers of America members from across the state will be on hand for educational events, competition, awards, and livestock industry information.  This is not just about farming, but about shaping and encouraging future leaders.
